Miss Logan's Class
Class 8, Ages 7-8- World Book Day.
The class started the day off by identifying what book character they dressed up as and to describe the book, the author and their character on a sheet of paper with illustrations of themselves as the character.
After their first task the children had a Math lesson where they were learning about perimeter and area. I went around the class and helped each child on every table, i explained the objective and helped them with their workings out.
The children then moved on to english and were completing a previous project, i took individual photos of them all in their costumes, for them to stick in their books.
After lunch time, the class were then visited by Hipperholme and Lightcliffe High school's science teacher and explained 'The Egg Race' competition to the class, for them to enter themselves.
After the visit, the children then continued with their english project, followed by quiet reading.
Throughout the day i helped groups as well as individuals with their work and i also went around the class and spoke to individual pupils about their work and what they like and do not like to do in classes.
I asked these questions to find out how the children prefer to learn. Most of them told me they like to draw as well as write for something to look forward to when they have finished writing.
I asked the same questions again about becoming a teacher or a teaching assistant? but to the teachers.
I was told to become a teaching assistant for an easy and simple job but a teacher for the money.
I also found out that teaching assistants do not get paid during holidays and breaks but teachers do.
I am definately going to work towards becoming a teacher for the secure and stable income as well as conducting lessons in my own way.
