Overview of work experience at Shelf J + I School

From my experience at Shelf J + I School i have got a very good outlook on what teaching is like. I sometimes thought it was frustrating when the children would'nt do their work and were being disruptive but i did enjoy helping them with their work, as it gave a sense of acheivement when you have managed to help a pupil with some thing they didnt understand.
When i decided i wanted to become a teacher/ teaching assistant i didnt have much of an idea of what it would be like and i was a bit worried that i would study to do some thing that i didnt end up liking, i am very pleased that i volunteered in my own time just to get a better understanding, because i have really enjoyed it and think that i would be able to do it.
I decided that i wanted to move from costumery to teaching because after my work experience on the set of DCI banks i realised that it would be very difficult to get in to, very competitive and not a secure income. It would have been something that i would have enjoyed working as but also would have been unrealistic for the future as i wouldnt have a guarnteed income and i think i would have found it stressful and turned to working in a normal 9-5 job.
It seems like a completely different route to costumery and design but i am also going to aim at becoming the costume designer for the school that i will end up working in, for their own plays and i would also like to become the head of the art department.

I am still studying my Teaching Assistant level 3 course and i have also been applying for full time teaching assistant jobs online.
I have also looked at the pay that is offered for these jobs online at calderdale council and have noticed that the pay scale is around £11,000-£14,000, which i thought was very low for an income and i was also told by Miss McDermot who has been working as a full time teacher for a year after her PGCE that she is currently on £22,000 and after her first year it will increase up to £2500 every year with experience, so i have definately decided to work towards becoming a Teacher. I was also advised to learn other things that could help my chances of being employed as an assistant, such as, First Aid, sign language and special educational needs teaching.
