Becoming a Teacher

I have looked further in to becoming a teacher which is my aim after completing my teaching assistant level 3 course which i am currently enrolled on.
I started my research by looking further in to the requirements of being a teacher which is:
  • GCSE grades c or above in English, Maths and Science
  • BA HONS degree or equivelent
  • experience of working within a primary school.
Unfortunately i did not recieve my GCSE Science at C grade or above so i have applied to re-take it while i am at college now through student services.
Another aim of mine is to move out this year, as soon as i become employed as a teaching assistant. so returning to university full-time isnt an option, but being in education since the age of 5 means i am no longer interested in it either. so i am looking at homelearning courses which i could complete along side employment.
I consulted Colleges student services in some further advice about teaching courses which do not require attending university full-time. they were very helpful and suggested a GTP (graduate teaching programme) which lets me work as an unqualified teacher in a primary school and attend college one day a week which i really like the sound of as it is mixed with working and learning, which will keep me interested and motivated.
I looked online at http://www.bradfordcollege.ac.uk/courses/course_view?id=w6a8f which shows 2 types of school centered training GTP and RTP, which i would be very interested in applying for. The GTP requires you to have a full HONS degree before applying but the RTP tells you the course will complete your stage 3 of your honors degree. so I am currently enquiring with Student services and with bradford college to see if i could apply for this course without doing any top-up degrees. If this is correct and i can apply straight after this course, then my aim is to have a year out working as a teaching assistant and building on my skills before applying. I have also been advised that learning skills such as sign language will especially improve my chances of becoming employed as it is a skill that is hard to come by, so this is my task to learn as i am working as a teaching assistant.
I am attending the Bradford college open day on 7th March 2012 to enquire even more to make sure this is the right course for myself.
After having my year out i will have a sufficient amount of experience working in a primary school as i am currently volunteering at my local school as an assistant and will hopefully be employed to learn even more.
I am wanting to work my way up through primary schools, starting as a teaching assistant working my way up to becoming a teacher, to hopefully in the future progressing on to becoming deputy head or even headteacher.

My aims and goals to becoming a teacher is to complete my teaching assistant level 3 same time as completing my Architectural, interior, 3D design degree.
Complete my GCSE science either along side my teaching job or before depending on how long it will take.
To then get a job as a teaching assistant and build on my skills and hopefully applying for the RTP course in september 2013 which will result in me being a qualified teacher by 2014 or 2015 depending on my experience.
I am set on being a teacher as i have found out it is good pay, interesting and i think it would be very rewarding. I have always been interested in the teaching side but never pursued it until now after thinking realistically about being a costume designer, where it would be very difficult and not a steady income, which i dont like as i want stability throughout my life.

These are my goals which i WILL achieve as i am motivated and interested in doing this.
